Wreck-it-Ralph-Qbert-Game-Station.jpg

Considering the movie Wreck It Ralph takes place in an arcade universe and features arcade and video game character cameos, this was enough for me to review the movie. I’ve waited until near when the movie launches tonight to post my review, so there will be lots of movie plot spoilers going forward. Insert coin to start:

Bastion Review (PC)

Bastion is a near-perfect game. A wonderful masterpiece, who's gameplay is tarnished only by a couple gameplay problems that shall be covered shortly. Even with those, Bastion represents a must-play on anybody's gaming list. I first became aware of the game when I heard glowing reviews of it and its narrator. This narrator would craft the world of the player's actions through his charming interludes. I was interested, but not enough so to purchase the game. I was more intrigued by Indie game Braid, whose time manipulation seemed better for my style. The narrator was also ruined by my watching of videos such as "Skyrim: Bastion Narrator Edition" which combines said narrator with Skyrim. This video does not do the world of Bastion, nor the narrator justice. It is the culmination of its vivid graphics, unique sound, and that narrator that come together to make Bastion worth playing. A humble bundle allowed both Braid and Bastion to come into my possession, and by the end of it, with nearly three completions, and 16 hours in the game, I believe Bastion has come out victorious.

Massteroid Hands-On (Xbox Indie Arcade)

Massteroid-Menu-Screenshot-Xbox-Indie.jpg

For every big-budget video game development, there are hundreds of smaller teams working just as hard to release a game to call their own. That's why I'm looking at Massteroids that was published last month for Xbox Live Indie Game Marketplace for 80 Microsoft Points. I had a chance to play it before it was released with some of the developers (which they say is actually Team 2012 instead of Jasonal) and the concept was unique enough for me to write about it now that it is released:

Predictions for E3 2012

e3-2012-prediction.jpg

With E3 2012 about three days away (you see what I did there), I figured it was time to discuss what could be possibly announced next week during the show. E3 has been sneaking up on me and I haven't had much time to prepare as I would like. I'll break down the chances each of these games will receive some sort of screentime starting with the most obvious.

Congratulations, you have just arrived in Skyloft. This cozy island in the sky will be your worry-free home for the rest of your life. Under the watchful eye of The Goddess, citizens fly around on giant birds, sell items at the bazaar and run ordinary lives. Then BLAM, the game begins.

TRAUMA Review (PC)

I received the download version of Trauma as a bonus buy when I purchased the Frozensynapse Humble Bundle. The game wasn't even on my radar, but now possessing ownership I felt obligated to suck the value from the item.

Morrowind Overhaul Mod (PC)

By Zott820Zott820

One day I was browsing YouTube and I came across the above video. I was stunned. This could not be Morrowind! The graphics in the video show an enchanting world with depth of field blurring, pervasive foliage and silky water effects. The water effects even looked superior to Skyrim's (Which I'll admit isn't that hard since the water in that game is quite ugly for its age). It was only when I recognized the buildings and the characters that I realized that this must be Morrowind. A heavily enhanced Morrowind.

Media Gamer: Quantic Dream's Project Kara

Quantic-Dream-Project-Kara.jpg

It's less than three months before E3 2012 and I'm sure everyone is excited about a new generation of hardware being announced. There will probably more information about the WiiU and some whispers about the new Xbox console while Halo 4 stands in the spotlight. Sony currently has the new PS Vita available and most likely will not be talking PS4 anytime soon. Luckily I recently saw a really cool tech demo supposedly running in real-time on the Playstation 3 named Project Kara:
